Helicopter House, in Malibu, California, hovers over the edge of a ridge that drops away to the valley 2,000 feet below.

The house is conceived of as a transportation hub for the young entrepreneur owner. Parking is provided for his car, truck and tractor, there is a front railing to tether horses (normally stabled elsewhere on the property) and a roof deck that could potentially function as a helicopter pad.

A Hybrid House laid out in a square plan, the house is punctuated by four indoor / outdoor spaces. A swimming pool on the west side, an interior bamboo garden on the north side that separates the master bedroom from the open-plan living room/dining room/kitchen, an intimate zen garden that wraps the tub of the master bathroom on the east side and an open-to-the-sky entrance on the south side.
